Meet Ian Navin
LICENSING COACH & PARTNER
Ian Navin brings a rare combination of hands-on manufacturing, engineering, and product development experience to Invent Tribe. With over a decade of experience, he has helped design, develop, test, and launch products across aerospace, automotive, medical, industrial, and consumer markets.
Starting on the manufacturing floor before earning both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Ian developed a deep appreciation for every stage of the product development process; from machining and production operations to engineering design, testing, manufacturing, and product launch.
His experience includes helping establish manufacturing processes, developing specialized engineering solutions for programs supporting organizations such as NASA, SpaceX, Blue Origin, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Northrop Grumman. With a high interest in space propulsion, he lead the development of an entirely new industrial product line for compressible fluid applications.
That diverse background allows Ian to see products through multiple perspectives:
- The engineer who designs it.
- The manufacturer who has to build it.
- The company evaluating whether it's worth investing in.
- And the inventor trying to bring an idea to life.
Today, Ian helps Invent Tribe members make smarter product decisions by combining real-world engineering experience with practical licensing strategy. His goal is helping inventors develop products that are innovative, manufacturable, and attractive to potential licensees.

The Story
The Itch to be an Idea Machine!
From an early age, Ian was fascinated by the inner workings of everything. Whether it was taking apart electronics, working on cars, or studying animatronics, his curiosity was always driven by one question: "How could this be better?"
After earning both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Ian built a career developing products across multiple industries. Designing innovative solutions and solving complex problems was exactly where he wanted to be.
As his career progressed, however, his responsibilities naturally shifted toward leadership and management. While he enjoys leading teams, he found himself spending less time creating and more time coordinating. The creative side that first drew him to engineering never disappeared, it simply needed another outlet.
Throughout the years, Ian had accumulated a growing list of invention ideas inspired by everyday problems. As he began researching how to bring those ideas to market, he discovered product licensing, and soon after, Invent Tribe.
It was the perfect fit!
Product licensing allowed Ian to combine his passion for innovation with his engineering background, focusing on creating solutions while partnering with companies equipped to bring products to market.
Now, as a partner and coach at Invent Tribe, Ian helps fellow inventors transform everyday ideas into real licensing opportunities. His notebook of ideas is still growing and so is his passion for helping others bring theirs to life.
